How Great Thou Art!!!!

salvation_is_foundHi Everybody!

Okay, I think I’m addicted to StikYard…This group is phenomenal in their worship. Talk about unrestricted praise…and with DRUMS!!!!! 😀

There are times in life that you may face challenges and obstacles, but when  you think of How great God is…your challenge or issue today will become smaller in your eyes when you Magnify God in your praise. There are days people act like they have nothing to be thankful for, but each day is a gift and we should not take each day for granted because it could be our very last day.

If you knew you were going to die tomorrow, would you still give God praise or would you simply wallow in self-pity?

What you do right now is just as important as what you did yesterday and what you will do tomorrow. Everything you do in life is important to God and that is why we must make room to Magnify the Lord in our daily walk. Look at where you are right now and ask yourself, did you give the Lord any thanks for what He has done in your day? If not, take a minute to give Him thanks right now, and I mean right NOW.

I know of someone who was adamant that she would not believe in God and thought Christians were “Bible Thumpers” and yet she liked me ironically and enjoyed my company. She was struck with cancer last year and during the time she was away I would call her every now and then to chat with her and check on her even though I was going through my own trial with being laid off without a job etc, and she knew I was a Christian, but she saw me as a “different type” of Christian and yet still refused to acknowledge God. Even though she was stubborn about it, I still prayed for her. Sometimes, when we talk about God, not everyone is willing to accept Him, but the point is, our job is to share about Him anyway.

She revealed a lot to me concerning her family issues and her bitterness and finished with Chemotherapy a few months ago last year. She was making plans to return back to work, however, today, I heard sad news that this same lady passed away. I pray that she found the Lord before her time was up because I knew where she stood concerning the message of salvation, and she did not seem interested to hear the Good news even though it was shared with her. Life was like a flickering flame for her and she did not know, that her time to choose was about to burn out.

We cannot walk around presumptuously thinking “I have all the time in the world”....Are you really sure of that?????

Sometimes we are too busy making other plans in our lives that we can’t seem to see that God is important and we need to make time for GOD in our lives.

Christians are lights to the world that can’t see God. The question I have for you today is how bright is your flame? Is yours dimming through unbelief, increased ignorance and indifference, or is your light shining brightly and burning ablaze with passion for God? It occurred to me that we must assess how bright our flames are as Christians in our daily walk…

If people can’t tell where you stand by just looking at you, then something is out of alignment. Take a look in the mirror my friend and tell me what you see? If Christ isn’t in you…what or who is?

How can we be lights to the world, if we are dim in our convictions towards our salvation and our belief in Christ Jesus?

How will the world know of Him if you are too busy trying to hide Him from others? Or are you simply hiding from Christ yourself?

If you are ashamed of Jesus, Jesus says He too will be ashamed of us. For if Christ is in you, the shame you exhibit falls upon the Christ that is inside of you.  Do not be ashamed of Who you are in Christ, rather Fear Him and remember, the light in you guides all our disconnected brothers and sisters back to Jesus.

Mark 8:38

If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.”

Luke 9:26

Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy angels.

Hebrews 2:10-12

10 In bringing many sons and daughters to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the pioneer of their salvation perfect through what he suffered.11 Both the one who makes people holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers and sisters.[a] 12 He says,

“I will declare your name to my brothers and sisters;
in the assembly I will sing your praises.”[b]

Today, focus on what is important and seek to increase that flame of passion in you today. Magnify God in your life by what you say and do and seek to make Him a priority in your life. Make His name famous by living out what you believe out loud so that those that never knew Him can hear His name and call upon it so that they too can be saved. We are life lines to those walking in the wrong direction so seek to be the lighthouse that guides  people back to the Heart of the Father, Amen!

Romans 1:16

For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.

Today, be blessed by this song called “How Great Thou Art” by StikYard. I guarantee that this presentation will bless you.

Revival of God’s Image in Us – The Breath of Life

via mtrevival.com

Hello Everybody!

Today my meditation comes with the feeling of wanting to see a MODERN DAY REVIVAL! I’ve been thinking about it for a while but when was the last revival apart from the Azusa Street Revival that was massive in its day in April 16, 1906 where there were workings of miracles, massive reception of the gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT? I want to see REVIVALS break out on a Global Scale. I know what I’m saying sounds ridiculous and probably dangerous but I want to see Massive Revivals not on a Nationwide scale but on a Global Scale. Can you imagine many Churches all having a Revival in the same Year? I can only say Faith can take us to such an amazing Vision so I’m speaking out by Faith in the Blogosphere for such a thing to Manifest itself. I want to see JOEL 2:28-29 in action people! Especially in the West where we have drowned out the Sound of the Divine Alarm, Make Ye Straight The Way of The LORD! Revivals shouldn’t be something we merely read in History books, I want to see these things take place in my lifetime but on a Grand Scale. This Year of Divine Government, we should pray and declare for REVIVAL on a Global Scale. I know that my blog has an international audience so for those reading, Start Praying for Revival in your Countries and Watch GOD MOVE. When a church becomes One in Mind, One in Spirit and One to Worship the Only God, you’ll be amazed at how the Spirit of the Lord will move.

Remember how God made Man and Woman in His own image and likeness in the book of Genesis 1:27 – So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.  The name Adam is Hebrew for “Man”; or “Mankind” so literally Adam was called Man. Adam was just a body that would have remained an empty shell until God’s breath of life came into that shell indwelling in him & her and it is that life that he & she became Sons of God formed in His Image and likeness. He and she are always referred to as the “first Adam” whereas Jesus is referred to as the “last Adam” in 1 Corinthians 15:45 (NIV) – So it is written: “The first man Adam became a living being“; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit.

It is Interesting to note the two distinctions:

1.) One being that the “First Man” was just a “living being” meaning that he and she were a “living being” with the breath of God’s life in him/her.

2.) The second being that the “Last Man” is Christ who was and is a “Life-giving spirit” in the form of a man.

God is the one who breathed life into Adam and therefore is the “GIVER OF LIFE”, then it stands to reason that the first Adam was not able to breathe life into another because only God could do that.

When both Adam and Eve sinned by listening to the Devil and defying one commandment to not eat of the Fruit of good and evil in the Garden of Eden, their state of God breathed Life started to die at that moment because what was in them was the Holy Spirit. Sin caused spiritual death and if you read through the books from the genealogy of Abraham going forward, you will notice that the number of years that man could live significantly decreased in that we once were able to live for hundreds of years in age because the breath of life which is from God is an Eternal kind of breath. If you look at our current life expectancy to this day, you can see that it is a now only a “miracle” if many of us can live to the age of 100. This is the consequence of all of us living in a state of fallen Grace.

Romans 3:23
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

When Jesus Christ came, it was only then that God was able to give life back into man as a Man on Earth to reinstate the original design which was God in Us through the Holy Spirit. This is evidence of God with us and dwelling among us in the New testament, but the buck doesn’t stop there folks! An amazing thing happens in the book of John after Jesus resurrects from the Dead. He meets His Disciples and then Breathes on ALL of them that were present (save Thomas) and commissions them to be APOSTLES! Did you catch that?  I said, HE BREATHES on the DISCIPLES and they are commissioned as APOSTLES! God’s BREATH OF LIFE yet again in action. The disciples had already received the HOLY SPIRIT prior to the upper room experience that they had in ACTS 2. The Acts 2 experience was the activation of the GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT.

John 20:19-23

The Apostles Commissioned

19 Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled,[c] for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, “Peace be with you.” 20 When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side. Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.

21 So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.” 22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.”

There are two separate events here folks.

1) The receiving of the Holy Spirit in the book of John breathed onto them by Jesus, and then

2) The activation of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in the book of Acts.

wow…I feel like I’m preaching but I think you understand my point right. This is such a sweet revelation.

The disciples became SONS OF GOD at that moment. HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We need to understand these two phenomenons so that you understand how we are the SONS of GOD on Earth after we are saved (born again), baptized, and receive the Gifts of the HOLY SPIRIT. It is mandatory that we operate in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, we need to be ignited to operate in the fullness of our callings as Sons of God, the question is…Do people even recognize the importance of the Holy Spirit in their life?

Are you walking in the Spirit as a Christian or are you still acting like a Christian walking like a dead man by ignoring the Holy Spirit dwelling inside of you the Hope of Glory?

What are we doing to quench the operation of the Holy Spirit in our lives?

When we grieve the Holy Spirit, we cannot function with the authority and inheritance as Sons of God, because clearly, you ABSOLUTELY need the HOLY SPIRIT to operate as a Son of God and you also must pursue the gifts of the Holy Spirit to function in the fullness of that call.

So my last Question is:

Ask yourself today, are you walking in the Spirit that is ETERNAL or are you walking in the FLESH that will soon pass away?

Wow, so friends, lets start believing in this A NEW WAVE of GODS BREATH on us so that we can be SONS OF GOD in this YEAR of 2012 – YEAR OF DIVINE GOVERNMENT. I want to see revival!!!!!!!!!! Can I get an AMEN!

Scriptures to Meditate

JOEL 2:28-29

God’s Spirit Poured Out

28 “And it shall come to pass afterward
That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
Your old men shall dream dreams,
Your young men shall see visions.
29 And also on My menservants and on My maidservants
I will pour out My Spirit in those days.

That You May Believe

30 And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

Psalm 150:6
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD. Praise the LORD!

It was Raining

I looked outside today

and it was raining,

raining, raining, raining.

It seems like a dreary day

and I thought of my blessings,

blessings, blessings, blessings.

I thanked God for today

and started praising,

praising, praising, praising.

My friend was in need yesterday,

and I started praying,

praying, praying, praying.

Someone passed away,

and I started crying,

crying, crying, crying.

Those that hurt me in the past,

they were lying,

lying, lying, lying.

In all this, I say “Hey, Life is full of surprises”,

So keeping believing,

believing, believing, believing.

Never give up on dreaming!

Your dreams are worth fighting for so keep fighting,

fighting, fighting, fighting.

That’s what Faith is…

That’s what Hope is…

That’s what Love is…

That’s what Life is…

So keep living,

Living, Living, Living.

Giving Honor where it is Due

So I went to my Bible group yesterday and we discussed the idea of Honoring people. Honoring people is about lowering yourself to make another person look good. In other words you give credit where credit is due by esteeming that person in the presence of others. When we consider how we take people in our lives for granted we forget that sometimes where we are right now would not have been possible had it not been for that one or two people being there to make things happen. The aim here is to practice humility by understanding the importance of developing selflessness as oppose to selfishness. You put the needs and desires of others above your own by having the heart of a servant even if it’s not part of your job description, you volunteer to be because that is what it means to be selfless.

Developing the character of selflessness is no way an easy task and yet, people wonder why we live in a love-starved world. It is this lack of selflessness that we choose to live in a selfish world. In fact, we encourage selfishness because we have cultivated an “each man for themselves” philosophy which has become a norm in many industrialized nations. To me, this answers many of the questions I have regarding the societal evils that exist in this world such as greed, conceit, apathy and the lack of regard to moral values that encourage solidarity within humanity.  [Notice how I often reflect on things regarding the state our our world in my blogs? I find that I am in constant reflection on these matters because so many things concern me that I often express these same concerns in various ways, so to the reader I apologize if you think I am the moral police, all I ask is to please bare with me on this one.]

Consider how we take the presence of Emergency crews (EMS), Fire fighters and Police for granted.  They do the things they do not because it is their job and duty  –  they choose to serve others for the sake of the greater good. They do things that rarely grant them recognition and appreciation and are often criticized for not doing enough even though they risk their own lives performing these duties for our benefit. We must understand that when they serve others, it’s not because they have to but because they want to. They do things not expecting anything in return and yet I believe people should be rewarded and honored for such selflessness that they put into practice because they deserve our recognition and respect.

It is so easy to complain about these individuals and disrespect them without fully appreciating the value that they have in our take-for-granted lives.

Can you imagine your world without police, without garbage collectors, health practitioners etc ? I don’t think I want to even entertain the thought of it but it is important to reflect on these things so that we have a sobered view about how we take people in our lives for granted. Also consider how we even take our families for granted. Ideally, parents love their children and do so many things for them sacrificially because it is their duty. However, they also do these things because they do it out of love. There was a girl in our group who mentioned how she wished she had done more for her mom when her mother needed support and how she’d taken that step to be there for her when she needs her because she doesn’t want to regret the consequence of maintaining a selfish attitude. This has changed her outlook and perspective on life in that it has led her to be more appreciative and grateful of what she has now and reflects on the things she didn’t value earlier.

Consider this: Must you wait to experience the regret of not knowing what you’ve got till it’s gone to honor those individuals that are in your lives?

Who and what do you value in your life presently?

You find that for those that have attended funerals, many people often discuss regrets of what they would have liked to have said or done for the person that has now passed on. This regret communicates how we take people’s lives for granted. Must you wait for a person to die to give them honor and live with regrets for how you could have treated them while they were with you all that time when they were alive? Life is way too short to maintain regrets so I emphasize, do what you can do NOW so that you don’t live with regrets of the “coulda woulda shoulda but ultimately didn’t”.

I remember a teaching from my grandparents about learning the two most important phrases that can get you ahead in life; they are “Please” and “Thank You”. You’d be surprised how these two phrases are taken for granted in this day and age but they should be  regarded with high value and those that walk in humility know the value of these words.

My Last Note:

How can you honor people? There are various ways you can do this and it doesn’t necessarily have to be extravagant. It’s the small things that count that make the most difference. You can start with the “please” and “thank you” phrases and you can also trying communicating your appreciation through compliments. And when I say compliments, I mean sincere compliments and not just mere words of flattery – words that you don’t mean from the very depths of your heart.  Compliment people and understand the difference between a compliment and flattery. My sister Sharon mentioned in this discussion that “a compliment builds a person’s character whereas flattery boosts a persons ego” and it is important to understand these differences so that you discern the difference between how flattery has no valued purpose but to create room for pride and conceit  based on selfish motivations whereas compliments nurture a positive character and builds self-esteem.  Thank those that have helped you, treasure everyone who is in your life and treat people the way you’d like to be treated. Don’t wait to value what you presently have until it’s gone. Honor people around you and you will be honored in return.

“Compliments cost nothing, yet many pay dear for them”.  ~ Thomas Fuller

The Bystander Effect: A Disturbing Phenomenon

So I just read a disturbing article regarding a two year old child struck by not just one but two vans while others who witnessed just stood around and watched. It’s amazing how the bystander effect can paraylze people to do absolutely nothing while witnessing something tragic happening before their eyes. The childs name is Wang Yue and this happened in China. 18 people were present and did nothing but walked around the blood on the road. She is currently it critical condition at a hospital and who knows if she’ll pull through out of this one. I pray that she does not die because in earnest truth, the 18 that saw her and did nothing will have blood on their hands if she dies. I know what I am saying seems harsh and unfair to point the finger but in doing nothing while being a witness to the whole thing, can you seriously be considered innocent?

Before starting this blog, I considered how angry I was about the idea of how people could just stand there and do nothing as they watched a child get hit by one vehicle and not step in only to watch another vehicle strike the child a second time. However, after further reflection, I can see how possible it is for people to do absolutely nothing even when witness to evil things being done in plain sight. Unfortunately, it is possible for anyone to be a bystander, and this also includes myself. It’s better for me to state the obvious as I am humbled by how the bystander effect can attach itself to anyone. We are not immune to this effect.

A little education: For those of you that do not know what the bystander effect is, by definition it is a social psychological phenomenon that refers to cases where individuals do not offer any means of help in an emergency situation to the victim when other people are present (wikipedia).

I think what it boils down to is thatpeople are less likely to help when they see other people around”. Does it make this right? NO! But to tell you the truth, when I think about it, anybody can do this including me. I think it’s horrific because we truly do not know how the human mind works when confronted with what I call “impromtu stress”. The stress I am referring to is in regards to a shocking incident or unprecedented event. Such shock can lead one to feel paralyzed from doing anything because the mind can think faster than the body can to move into action.  Let me make it clear that I’m not a psychologist, these inferences that I draw upon are all based on my observations and things I have read regarding the subject. In no way should you regard anything I say as text book fact but it’s just my commentary on the subject ok. let’s continue….

The factors that I think cause people to not move to action could be anyone one of these things that I’m about to list here [take note that this list in not intended to be exhaustive, I’m just chosing what I think are important factors to consider, feel free to comment your thoughts below]:

1. Fear – “What will happen to me if I step in”: Fear should not be underestimated by any circumstance. When we see someone in danger the first thing that kicks in is self-preservation mode. It’s a natural instinct to consider your safety first over others. It may seem selfish but we are all wired that way to a large extent. This instinct hinders us to act on behalf of others and this is not to say that it prevents us from acting but it can be a hinderance to doing so.  Fear also paralyzes a person from acting at all. This does not mean that the person does not want to assist a person in need but it has a power to  prevent us from doing so because of how we conceptualize how danger is associated with pain.

Humans are hard-wired to resist painful things and thus we pursue things that pleasure us. So in an event where trouble is imminent and assistance is required, it is most likely that the unfortunate reaction to occur would be that others would rather choose to tail and run than step out and risk being yet another statistic to a possible tragedy. It is harrowing how the human mind functions on survival and self-preservation mode when faced with danger. They say that the greatest evils appear in the midst of danger. How true this rings with the bystander effect. Also, there are cases where those that step out in good faith are sued by the person they intended to provide assistance. It is a terrible thing to experience but it also can explain why others are deterred to assist others in the first place when the fear of reprisal is factored in as well. People often use this to justify their inaction which is plausible but not right.

2. Apathy- “It’s none of my business”: Another factor to consider is that if the event is not happening to you, then it is not any of your business to care about what is happening to another. This I think is another explanation to the bystander effect. People are selfish at times and can choose to act this way as long as whatever is happening does not affect their sphere of influence (which is their life). This trait saddens me but it is definitely a factor I consider to be a possible explanation to the bystander effect.

3. The idea that “Someone else will step in”: This is also tied in with fear in that people see consequences to actions first before choosing to act. This leaves others expecting someone else to step in especially in the presence of other people. It’s the idea that we don’t have to make the first move when others are clearly present to the current situation. Some underestimate their capabilities of providing assistance in such dire situations, however, this is yet another hinderance to act on someone elses’ behalf. Self-preservation can become selfish to this extent. We remove culpable responsibility from our inaction and deceive ourselves into thinking that “we haven’t harmed anyone by doing nothing”.

Let us make it clear that the harm is in the inaction itself. It’s the omission of the offence not the comission to an act that also counts as a crime to me by social standards. We can be all guilty of this so I won’t water this down just to sleep well at night. This waiting period that happens in an event where someone requires immediate assistance could be the defining moment between life and death for a person. Merely waiting for someone to act and remaining indecisive to take action chips away at the time left for that person’s survival. I pray that we learn what it means to be self-less so that if something were to happen to you, someone would pay it forward.

4. The Hear no Evil, See no Evil, Speak no Evil – until after the fact: Pretending to have absolutely nothing to do with an incident that you were present at also screams selfish. I remember when my sister and I was in a car accident how people stopped and stared at me struggling to get out of the car because I was in shock and how people sped off acting like they didn’t want to be part of that scene. Thankfully there was a guy there who helped us during my car accident and waited with us for 3 whole hours in the cold winter waiting for a cop to arrive since I was rear-ended by an SUV and transit bus. People who witnessed the event ran away accept the guy who helped me and explained what I should do since I’d never been in an accident in my life before. It was terrifying to see how people, though witnesses, act like what they saw and heard had nothing to do with them and walk on by not even offering a hand to help us just because it had nothing to do with them.

In Canada we have Good Samaritan Laws which helps to curb people from being hesistant to help others in distress which accounts to many people being saved since amnesty is given in cases were the one assisted cannot sue the one providing aide. Such a law is instituted in many english common law countries but the practice of it is difficult to measure. The bystander effect is a terrible phenomenon and for me who has experienced it in different cases, it tells me that humanity has a lot to change. Humanity needs to value the life of others as they do value themselves. Life is a gift and we should consider sharing this gift with others and not rob each other of it by regarding others as of less value in human society.

This can explain why so many atrocities continue to this day, because like I said before in a different blog, “Injustice continues when we close our eyes”. However, it doesn’t have to remain that way.We can choose to do the right thing. It’s all up to us to step out and reach out to those that need us the most when the time calls for it. Don’t assume that inaction relieves us from having blood on our hands. We must consider what we do to others can be done back to us one day. You can believe in Karma or whatever, but what we do or choose not to do will hurt us one day, so it’s best to do the very best you can even if it’s just to make a phone call to someone who can better assist in that situation. It’s better than doing absolutely nothing at all and walking on by. People, please don’t have blood on your hands, that’s all I’m saying. Keep it real and choose not to be a bystander.
