Jesus is “The Unconditional”

177812216_unconditional

Hello everybody,

This is day 6 of my 21 day prayer and fasting and there have been amazing things happening with just the first 3 days. Rather than that, there has been something that’s been on my heart for quite some time and I’ve been wondering how I should even talk about this but I’m just going to go ahead and go there with my thoughts.

3b6bb8319b5c5202ff9913785489d1b4I’ve been meditating on the unconditional love of God. Many people are hurting because what’s out there isn’t genuine, it’s conditional. How can we be open if people only like the so-called “good” parts of us but when you come out with the worst side of yourselves, people begin to shun you. It’s as if you aren’t even allowed to have a bad day. I confess, there are times when I cuss out…yes, there have been times that I was soo upset that I set aside my “christian” self and went on a flesh rampage and cussed out to relieve stress. I’m not condoning what I’ve done, I’m just gonna be real with you about it. I’m a Christian who has cussed when having a bad day… Yes…have self-control (I know that already in my head…but let’s be honest here…sometimes I fall – there I said it).

The truth is, before I was saved, I had issues with cussing. I remember reading an email I had sent to someone after 2 years of being saved and noticed how many cuss words were in that email…I was ashamed to find that I had such a potty mouth. Although I no longer cuss out like I did before I was saved, it doesn’t mean that it hasn’t been an ongoing struggle. I am saved and I am still being saved by the grace of God as I fight and war with my flesh and hold onto what is good, what is worthy of note what is of good report. I’m a Christian, but I’m also human….I’m not handing out an excuse…I’m handing out a REALITY my friends.

How is it that I can go to church one moment and cuss out the next moment…listen…I’m not superhuman, I’m just me…I’m just a broken vessel needing Jesus, my Savior. Although I don’t cuss as much, I do relapse when I get complacent. Yes, there are times when I say things without thinking and I praise God that my heart is sensitive enough to feel grief and conviction to know when I’ve done something that hasn’t pleased God. I think the most scariest place to be in the world is when you no longer feel that conviction of the Holy Spirit. The moment you no longer feel that conviction from the Holy Spirit is when your conscience has become seared to no longer hear nor feel the heart beat of Jesus.

It’s amazing how many people I encounter with such self-righteousness that they throw stones so easily at others who are their brothers and sisters that they don’t take the time to do some self-inventory and see the planks that exist in their own eyes. Sometimes I think God looks at us and shakes His head….

Matthew 7:1-3 (NKJV)

Do Not Judge

7 “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you.And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?

I’m not saying that it’s ok to cuss or anything, that’s my own weakness that I’m still dealing with, but what I’m getting at is when can Christians be real and judge not so easily about the weaknesses of other and operate at a level of Godly CompassionI don’t care if you’re shocked with my weaknesses…because I’d rather be in a place where I am able to confess my weaknesses before God rather than be a closet Christian pretending to act like “I’m ok”. There are days when I’m not ok and I cry, and I seek God’s face and wonder…why am I like this…how did I get here…why is it so hard to be Christian?

The problem isn’t with the message of Christ, it’s with the actions of other Christians.

1 Samuel 24:12

Let the Lord judge between you and me, and let the Lord avenge me on you. But my hand shall not be against you.

We lack that element of the unconditional love of God in our heart.
Remember that saying that goes: “People don’t care how much you know, they want to know how much you care”.

87aa9e8e14cff8917027311443874211We need to practice unconditional love. I’ve been around different walks of life both young and old and have traveled and lived in various countries by the grace of God that I can truly see the beauty of God through all these different types of people. We were all born unique and it is in that uniqueness that we have to learn to embrace our differences since we are all part of the same body but all performing a different function.
Lately, I feel that God wants us as people to remember that when He gave us His Son Jesus…it was because of that unconditional love that He has for you. He died for you…He died for the murderer, slanderer, adulterer, the gay the lesbian, the confused, the angry, the lonely, the seemingly unlovable, the psychotic, etc, the point is Jesus died for everyone without discriminating on whatever weakness you had.

The truth is, God’s love is so amazing that it’s truly hard to comprehend and yet so easy to understand because it’s simple, God is Love personified. His name is Jesus and yes, He is The Unconditional Love that we all need.

6cc2d944f6cfb62b30e00d1fae1f8ca5Men may judge you easily because we are imperfect beings, but through Christ we become perfected. You are not too far gone that God’s love can’t reach you.  Jesus’ hand is always extended to lift you up whenever you are down. God loves you. Christians and other people in this world are simply human, and imperfect humans usually display an imperfect love towards others. It’s because unconditional love was authored by God Himself. Jesus became a live demonstration of God’s love so that we could understand that it is possible to love others unconditionally. The struggle is real, but my emphasis in this post is understand that the Unconditional is part of your identity as a Christian. If you are partial in your love, then you need to seek God’s face to help you build up this level of Godly love to demonstrate to others. Tt doesn’t mean that there won’t be people that challenge your ability to love them, however, you must learn to ask God to increase your ability to love the unlovable. God is real and He loves you.

I know I could preach all day long on this, but this was was in my heart after I read a post of a person who abandoned the faith just because of what he saw other Christians do. It’s sad… I don’t blame people who walk away from the faith…the truth is, they probably haven’t walked away from Christ in their hearts because they know how Christ loves them. However, it most likely may be that they have simply walked away from other Christians because of how they practiced their conditional love.

Jesus understands you and wants you to know, that He will always love you. People may fail you, but God will never leave you or forsake you because He is the Unconditional.

Hebrews 13:5

Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.”

This song is something that I’ve been playing for the past few days. It’s by Hillsongs UNITED called Even When it Hurts (Praise Song).  I will praise God even when it hurts because I love Him. Do you? God Bless you everybody! 😀

Don’t throw out friendship evangelism

Hi Everybody!

I just wanted to post this video out there to get you to start thinking about how you want to invite people to church. Be strategic and be genuine is my two cents. This video is amusing and it just really gets you thinking about how we go about our Jesus thing.

We need to demonstrate love before we give the Word to anyone.

Jesus shows us like the woman at the well that He was more concerned about her well being than about talking about Himself to her.  Showing her that He cared about her, drew her to evangelize about Him simply because Jesus demonstrated His love for her through action without  prejudice or arrogance. We have to be careful about not appearing lofty or arrogant about what we know about Jesus and show people that we care. Jesus tells us “love one another as I have loved you”. So why is it that we aren’t demonstrating this one instruction? Are we too proud to follow His words? Are we too Self-absorbed to even care? Does it even matter? We really need to dig deep and consider that being a “Christian” doesn’t mean thrusting your ideas at someone…it’s about understanding who you are and what you believe and demonstrating that Love is personified through the actions of Jesus, so in believing in Him, we ought to do the same. But are we???? food for thought.

John 13:34-35

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

So the next time you go about your evangelism thing, remember this one important fact:

People don’t care about what you know, they want to know  about how much you care.

Jesus showed us this example countless times through the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Think about the effect it has of showing how you care about someone, you draw them to Christ when you show them how much you care. The question is, when was the last time you reached out to care about someone else apart from yourself? Being self-absorbed draws people away from what you are about so rethink your attitude and start the change within in order for you to have impact throughout.

Read the story about the Samarian woman at the well in John 4  and think about it during this Easter/Passover season.

Enjoy this clip and God bless you everybody! Love y’all! 😉

The Christmas Gospel

Hi Everybody!

I know it’s been a busy month for everybody trying to wrap up things before the Christmas holidays, but let me just state that Jesus is the Reason for the Season and the whole point is no matter how inaccurate historians maybe about Dec 25th being Jesus’ birthday (which most of us know that it is not), the whole point is, it is a time of celebration concerning the Fact that Christ came to Save us all from the penalty of sin which is death, through what He did at Calvary by dying on the Cross and Resurrecting from the dead three days later in fulfillment of the scriptures.

Our Lord Jesus came down from Heaven to be born as a man to teach us all about God’s Kingdom, bear our sins on the cross and defeat the power of death so that we could all be redeemed and be reborn to be reunited with Him again by acknowledging that He is indeed our Savior. Such compassion shown by our God is worthy of all our praise and when you begin to realize, Jesus’ birth was not done in vain, the master plan was to restore all of us back into the fullness of our positions as joint-heirs with Jesus Christ. Through this, we have so much to be thankful for and so much to give to God and to others by our way of worship back to the Father for all that He has done for us.

Jesus came down to give us the gift of hope through salvation so that in return, we would do the same by blessing those around us with the same gift of hope to return back to the heart and the love of the Father.

Extend your love to others so that the light of Christ love shining through you can reach others who live in darkness.

Isaiah 9:6

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

I want to bless all my blogger friends and all those that read this blog a blessed Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas Eve Worship: It’s Not Over!

Merry Christmas Eve Everybody!

I realize that although this is a time of family and fellowship for many of us celebrating the season of Jesus Christ’s birth and life, there are people out there that are going through some hard times in this season of celebration. So this song that I’m posting by Israel & New Breed (feat. James Fortune  and Jason Nelson) called It’s Not Over is to encourage the lonely, the hurting and the ones who need a song to uplift their spirit. God is with you even when you think He isn’t in your present situation. God is in your situation. God we help you come through whatever trial you are going through because God loves you. He will send you the answers you are looking for even when you think you can’t find them. Many are going through “WHY????” seasons…but God can turn around that “Why?” into a “Because” and be the answer you need while you are asking questions. Though we see dimly the light shines through the darkness and that Light that you seek whether you realize it or not is through our Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST. God Bless you everybody and may this song minister to the broken-hearted during this season. God has not forgotten you.

2012 Count Down to Christmas: 6 Days to Go

Hi Everybody,

6 more Days until it’s Christmas! Let us be reminded today of our wonderful Counselor and lifter of our heads, the Lord Jesus Christ. Christmas celebrates His birth, however, we must also celebrate the Lords entire life and remember what He did for all of us at Calvary.  Hope you enjoy this video today. God bless you everybody! 😀

The Seven Last Words

Hi Everybody!

This is going to be rather short reflection today but what I do want to say is that we have to learn to pray for people that offend us. When we look at the times we have offended God with our own actions, you can know for sure that we all deserve God’s judgment in our lives. However, Jesus came in and INTERCEDED on our behalf on the cross as He prayed to the Father and said in His seven last words found in  the book of Luke:

Luke 23:34
Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” And they divided His garments and cast lots.

In the same way, that Jesus interceded for us…we must learn to do the same. Now, I feel like the Lord has been dealing with me on this issue because I am emotional at times when someone wrongs me in an offensive way, but I have to rise above that and overcome evil with God’s definition of good. To intercede effectively, we have to learn to forgive 70×7 times over (Matthew 18:21-23) and let me tell you that it is no easy task, but it can be done when we start to focus on changing how we feel, react and respond to those that offend us.

The battle here is operating with a Spirit of LOVE people.

Love covers a multitude of sin (Proverbs 10:12)  as demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ, so as Christians, we must learn to do the same and step our game up in the Love department. Let me tell you right now that writing about this was quite difficult since there are some people that still kind of rub me the wrong way so I raise my Hand in that I need a measure of God’s love to increase in me so that bitterness and anger don’t rob me of joy. I believe that God wants to set people free from being offended if we admit that we need His help in the whole process. Repent and be Healed, be delivered and then seek the same for your brothers and sisters who need that same display of mercy, that same display of God’s love in you in action over them so that they can change and be renewed because of your intercession, because of you standing in the gap for them as Christ our Redeemer did for us as well.

Sometimes when we are offended, we don’t necessarily “Feel” like praying for the person that offended us because of how they hurt us….but intercession isn’t based on feelings…it’s based on “LOVE”. God Loved us enough to send His Son Jesus to intercede on our behalf, and now we have to step up and do the same for our brothers and sisters who are in Christ and for those who aren’t in Christ. We all know that Perfect Love casts our Fear (1 John 4:18), and if it is able to do that, then perfect love can delivers us from evil when Love is put into ACTION.

So my Challenge to you today is sit back and reflect on the people who may have offended you in your past or even recently (no matter how grievous the offense) and put into practice, prayer that forgives them for what they did to you, because they probably don’t even know how they offended you to begin with and even if they do know, seek to pray for forgiveness and also that the Lord help them to change their ways and for the Lord to help change how we think about them so that we aren’t grounded by bitterness and anger.  I have found that over time when I have prayed over my enemies, and those that offended me in this way, I feel a release in the bitterness department as I re-shelf that room with jars of LOVE. The more Love you put into action in your own life, the easier it becomes to forgive others as Christ did for us when we didn’t know what we did to offend our Lord.

I have a song from Aaron Sledge called Closer. May this song bless you today everybody!

Scriptures to Meditate

1 John 4:18
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.

Matthew 18:21-22

The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant

21 Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”

22 Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.

Proverbs 10:12

Hatred stirs up strife, But love covers all sins.

James 5:16
Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.
