The Anointing for Breakthrough Started with Jesus – by Minister Sherline —

Hello Everybody! 😀

My message from this past Friday is also posted on my church’s website via The Anointing for Breakthrough Started with Jesus – by Minister Sherline . I’m on day 6 of the 7 day Fast and I give God praise.

On April 6, 2016, marked the 2 year anniversary since my Pastors and I and my sister started the church. We give God all the honor and all the praise. It has been challenging but I’m so happy to see people desiring to seek God more in our church that we’ve been getting so many people contacting us across the globe and in other cities that want to connect. I believe that God wants to equip His Church for the greater call in people’s lives, but everything starts with the foundation of your belief system. Many churches have clogged up the foundation to suit their own agendas, but we must advance the agenda of Christ in order to see His Word become manifest in a generation that needs to know, Jesus came for all people, and not just some, but all people to live a purpose driven life, Amen! 😀

The Power of the Anointing for Breakthrough is already in you. The word “Christ” (in Greek khristos) means “the Anointed One”. If you have Christ in you the hope of glory that means that the anointing is already in you through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The question is, is it operating inside of you?

Are you tapping into what is already inside of you if you are a believer?

The Anointing God puts on you cannot be taken away, it is generational.

Exodus 40:15

You shall anoint them, as you anointed their father, that they may minister to Me as priests; for their anointing shall surely be an everlasting priesthood throughout their generations.”

The Anointing for breakthrough started with Jesus

Jesus had first fasted for 40 days in the desert while being challenged by Satan before releasing this Word found in Luke 4.

Jesus-teaching

Luke 4:16-30 – Jesus Rejected at Nazareth

16 So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. 17 And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written:

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me,
Because He has anointed Me
To preach the gospel to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,[j]
To proclaim liberty to the captives
And recovery of sight to the blind,
To set at liberty those who are oppressed;
19 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.”[k]

20 Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him.21 And He began to say to them, “Today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.” 22 So all bore witness to Him, and marveled at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth. And they said, “Is this not Joseph’s son?”

23 He said to them, “You will surely say this proverb to Me, ‘Physician, heal yourself! Whatever we have heard done in Capernaum,[l] do also here in Your country.’” 24 Then He said, “Assuredly, I say to you, no prophet is accepted in his own country. 25 But I tell you truly, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elijah, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, and there was a great famine throughout all the land; 26 but to none of them was Elijah sent except to Zarephath,[m] in the region of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. 27 And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Elisha the prophet, and none of them was cleansed except Naaman the Syrian.”

28 So all those in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, 29 and rose up and thrust Him out of the city; and they led Him to the brow of the hill on which their city was built, that they might throw Him down over the cliff. 30 Then passing through the midst of them, He went His way.

The Anointing on Jesus is the same anointing we need to tap into as Christians in order to operate in a realm of perpetual breakthroughs.

First the anointing Jesus speaks of comes from the Holy Spirit (Verse 18). The Holy Spirit provides the power that backs the anointing for you to be able to do the following:

  1. To preach the gospel to the poor: It brings good news to the Poor (poverty in spirit, poverty in finance, poverty in relationship, in fact all areas of Poverty).

  2. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted: It has the power to heal what was broken in your heart because everything you do in your life is a reflection of what is in your heart. Out of the abundance of the heart your mouth speaks.

  3. To proclaim liberty to the captives:  It breaks bondages to those bound to sin in any area (spiritually and physically). Because the Holy Spirit provides the power that backs the anointing, you need to understand that you need to tap into the spiritual realm to move what cannot be moved in the natural realm. This can be done by prayer and fasting and meditating on God’s Word. Every breakthrough you require for God to intervene is only found through the power of the Holy Spirit. If you don’t tap into the Spirit, you will operate in a realm of mediocrity as you strive by might and power. Learn to humble yourself and go before God to whom is your source of breakthrough.

  4. And recovery of sight to the blind, – Jesus doesn’t just restore physical vision, he restores your spiritual sight to see into the spirit, He restores your vision so that you are able to see yourself in the way that God sees you and He also restores the overall vision you require in order for you to be successful in your life.  In order to be successful, you require Revelation.

What is Revelation? The dictionary defines it as:

  1. the act of revealing or disclosing; disclosure.
  2. something revealed or disclosed, especially a striking disclosure, as of something not before realized.
  3. Theology.

God’s disclosure of Himself and His will to His creatures; an instance of such communication or disclosure; something thus communicated or disclosed; something that contains such disclosure, as the Bible.

In the KJV it says in Proverbs 29:18 – Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he.

The NKJV version says: Where there is no revelation the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law.

Vision brings you revelation, however, you are required to keep the law which is contained in God’s word; meaning that you must follow God’s Word. It is not enough to be a hearer of it when you don’t do what it says. You don’t want to be a Revelation Short of a Breakthrough.

Vision allows you to see what you couldn’t see before and it brings about direction towards your elevation.

When God gives you a revelation, he reveals to you what was hidden so that you are guided in the right direction.

You need Revelation for ELEVATION.

How can you follow the Lord’s direction when you cannot see?

That is why it is important to meditate on God’s Word so that you are provided clear direction as to where you ought to go, rather than follow another man’s revelation of where they think you should go. You have to learn to see God by following His Word. That’s why there is emphasis to meditate on His Word day and night so that it does not depart from your mouth. The more you meditate, the more you can see clearly and hear clearly. If you don’t meditate on His Word, you will follow a false direction and will end up misguided into the wrong direction and that is why God’s people keep perishing, because they don’t keep God’s word. They don’t meditate on it and therefore, they run in the dark and find themselves lost and directionless. It is important to keep your eyes fixed on Jesus if you want to maintain the vision that He has for your life which is in:

Jeremiah 29:11 – For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

  • To set at liberty those who are oppressed; The anointing is so powerful that it gives you the ability to deliver people from oppression whether it is demonically inspired (demonization) or legally inspired (through the laws of men) to oppress people into slavery/torture of different sorts (i.e. human trafficking/ war etc). God has given us authority to challenge and defeat the oppressors in order to set captives free.

  • To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord.” The anointing also prophesies what the Lord will do in every year. When you proclaim, you are declaring what it is that you want to see. The anointing gives you the power to call forth those things that be not as though they were. You can call your breakthroughs into being by proclaiming by faith what it is that you want to see happen in your year. The thing is, whatever you proclaim requires you to partner with the Holy Spirit in order to see your breakthrough.

Romans 4:17  As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being things that were not.

The Power of the Anointing:

  • Confounds the wise and the mighty (Luke 4:22). People will not know why God has put such an anointing on your life, but God is willing to use a willing vessel to do great and mighty works. Look at David as an example.

1 Corinthians 1:27 (NKJV)  But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;

  • The Anointing locates the least likely for increase (Luke 4:25-26). There were many widows in Israel and yet the prophet Elijah during the time of the great famine/drought that lasted 3 years 6 months visited the widow who fed him the last morsel she had for herself and her son. The oil in her pots brought increase in a time of famine/lack.

1 Kings 17:8-16 Elijah and the Widow

Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.” 10 So he arose and went to Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, “Please bring me a little water in a cup, that I may drink.” 11 And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”

12 So she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”

eikon_1132_13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. 14 For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’”

15 So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. 16 The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah.

  • The Anointing does not discriminate, it locates willing vessels to receive breakthrough (Luke 4:27). The same applies to Naaman in 2 Kings 5: 1-19 who was a great and honorable Commander who the Lord had given him victory to the Syrian army that he served as commander, was also struck by leprosy. However when he listened to the prophet Elisha from the enemies camp (the Children of Israel) he was healed. It just goes to show that the anointing can even heal the least likely to believe in the God you serve.

2 Kings 5: 1-19 – Naaman’s Leprosy Healed

Now Naaman, commander of the army of the king of Syria, was a great and honorable man in the eyes of his master, because by him the Lord had given victory to Syria. He was also a mighty man of valor, but a leper. And the Syrians had gone out on raids, and had brought back captive a young girl from the land of Israel. She waited on Naaman’s wife. Then she said to her mistress, “If only my master were with the prophet who is in Samaria! For he would heal him of his leprosy.” And Naaman went in and told his master, saying, “Thus and thus said the girl who is from the land of Israel.”

Then the king of Syria said, “Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel.”

So he departed and took with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold, and ten changes of clothing. Then he brought the letter to the king of Israel, which said,

Now be advised, when this letter comes to you, that I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may heal him of his leprosy.

And it happened, when the king of Israel read the letter, that he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and make alive, that this man sends a man to me to heal him of his leprosy? Therefore please consider, and see how he seeks a quarrel with me.”

So it was, when Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his clothes, that he sent to the king, saying, “Why have you torn your clothes? Please let him come to me, and he shall know that there is a prophet in Israel.”

Then Naaman went with his horses and chariot, and he stood at the door of Elisha’s house. 10 And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” 11 But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.’ 12 Are not the Abanah[a] and the Pharpar, the rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? Could I not wash in them and be clean?” So he turned and went away in a rage. 13 And his servants came near and spoke to him, and said, “My father, if the prophet had told you to do something great, would you not have done it? How much more then, when he says to you, ‘Wash, and be clean’?” 14 So he went down and dipped seven times in the Jordan, according to the saying of the man of God; and his flesh was restored like the flesh of a little child, and he was clean.

eikon_1142_15 And he returned to the man of God, he and all his aides, and came and stood before him; and he said, “Indeed, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, except in Israel; now therefore, please take a gift from your servant.”

16 But he said, “As the Lord lives, before whom I stand, I will receive nothing.” And he urged him to take it, but he refused.

17 So Naaman said, “Then, if not, please let your servant be given two mule-loads of earth; for your servant will no longer offer either burnt offering or sacrifice to other gods, but to the Lord. 18 Yet in this thing may the Lord pardon your servant: when my master goes into the temple of Rimmon to worship there, and he leans on my hand, and I bow down in the temple of Rimmon—when I bow down in the temple of Rimmon, may the Lord please pardon your servant in this thing.”

19 Then he said to him, “Go in peace.” So he departed from him a short distance.

  • The Anointing Offends those that do not practice the Truth (Luke 4:28) People will not like the fact that the anointing in your life reveals their own weaknesses and will stir up jealousy, hatred, and people will want to attack you but the anointing will still preserve you.

Jesus kept emphasizing in the synagogue that a prophet is not accepted in their own country and was calling that out on the Jews. Elijah and Elisha were such prophets and they kept giving instructions to willing vessels to receive blessings who were foreigners. In the Bible, you will find the frustration of the Lord in the book of Isaiah who keeps saying “Oh Jerusalem, how I have sent you many prophets and you did not receive them” and they kept killing them, dismissing them and not hearing them because they would not accept the instruction that the Lord had to give to them to guide them back in the right direction. The blessing of the anointing was no longer reserved for just the Jews, it was also for the Gentiles. That’s why Jesus states that He was going to pour out all His Spirit on all flesh. You no longer needed to be a Jew to receive the anointing and this reality and truth heavily offended those in the Synagogue.

The anointing gives direction to willing vessels and it does not discriminate. This is why a Muslim or any non-believer for that matter can come to church and receive the Word and act on it (being a doer of what they hear) and receive the reward that a Christian sitting in the same room would miss. The Anointing searches willing vessels that are ready to obey the Lords instruction in order to receive the blessing that they seek. This is why the people wanted to murder Jesus upon hearing all this. They were not ready for the Truth and wanted to kill him by pushing Jesus off a cliff, but they were unable to because the Anointing protects your destiny. That’s how powerful it truly is and this is the same anointing that is in all believers that have been baptized receiving the same power through the Holy Spirit.

Transition to Elevation – by Minister Sherline

Hello Everybody!

This is part 2 of the God’s PA Review message that I promised I would share on here. This Post was taken from a message I shared tonight at church. It is posted on my church’s website livingproofcentre.org . I do believe that the message is timely and I pray that it blesses somebody today. Be encouraged, Amen! 😀

When you look into the Bible, there are many situations where you encounter people that experienced a “Transition into Elevation”.

What is the meaning of Transition?

It is a movement, passage, or change from one position, state, stage, subject, concept, etc., to another; change: the transition from adolescence to adulthood.

 What is to Elevate?

  1. to move or raise to a higher place or position; lift up.
  2. to raise to a higher state, rank, or office; exalt; promote:

to elevate an archbishop to cardinal.

  1. to raise to a higher intellectual or spiritual level.

The examples that I can think of are:

  • From Shepherd to King – David – 1 Samuel 16: 1-13 (Read this whole)
  • From Prisoner to Leader – Joseph – Genesis 41
  • From Slave to Free – The children of Israel – Exodus 14
  • From Barren to Fruitful – Hannah, Prophet Samuel’s Mother – 1 Samuel 1
  • From Cursed to Blessed – Jabez- Enlarged my territory and bless me indeed – 1 Chronicles 4:10
  • From Enemy to Follower – Saul to Paul – Acts 9
  • From Sickness to Wholeness – The woman with the issue of blood – Matthew 9:20-22
  • From Death to Life – Jesus – Matthew 28; Mark 16; Luke 24

downloadSometimes, transitions into elevation seem to be anti-climactic, because as Steven Furtick said (Head Pastor of Elevation Church) in his New Year’s 2016 sermon, we are typically building anticipation for the event, but once the event happens, we tend to feel no different and yet we’ve elevated.

We’ve risen to a new level, we’ve reached a new height, we moved from point A to point B.

I wrote a blog post entitled It’s PA time with GOD, how did you measure up?” and in that blog I talked about how God measures our performance. If you have a job, you know that you’ll go through a Performance Appraisal.

A follower of my blog asked a question:

She asked me “How do you know when you have been shifted by God to a new level?”

2b4af4f9ac202d785cf3346f824b928aThere are signs everywhere that you have shifted but at the same time the transition may also feel very anti-climactic, meaning that it will feel like as if nothing has happened and yet you’ve moved into a different level. I’ll give you an example, it’s like graduating from high school or college, your excitement will be in the anticipation of that transition from student to graduate, but after the graduation party, you’ll feel no less different and yet you’ve transitioned from being a student to a graduate. You’ve moved up and yet you will feel nothing different because transitions are not based on “feelings”, they’re based on where God wants you to go. So there will be signs that you’ve moved to another level, i.e. your associations/friends/peers may change their attitude about you, new people will enter into your life, new doors start opening for you that didn’t in the last season. With every level, there are new things that happen that didn’t occur in your previous season. That’s why when God elevates you through the Word of His Mouth (be it from a prophet, preacher, minister etc), it is already done. You may not feel like anything happened but think of David, he was a shepherd boy and after he was anointed by the prophet Samuel, he was immediately transitioned into becoming a King but it took him a while from hiding from Saul to take up the throne. So even though it seems like nothing has happened, the signs were around David in that the moment he was anointed, his friendly relationship with Saul became one as an enemy overnight. Your friends/family/peers will change their attitude about you when God elevates you to the next level. I hope what I’m saying makes sense. Yes, it will feel lonely, but David went through that as well in the Bible, so just understand that when you act in obedience, there is a reward for your obedience. So understand that the shift you experienced was meant to happen. If you are moved by the Spirit of God, you will do things that will change your status as you continue to act in obedience. Transitions have nothing to do with feelings, they have everything to do with where God wants to take you.

Man has a standard of evaluations, and so does God. Man’s standard has a series of criteria, and so does God.

However, the way in which God evaluates us is by using this one criterion. Can you imagine that His evaluation is simply based on this one aspect of our life and that is that He evaluates us by our Heart?

Why does God evaluate us through our Heart?

Here are some of the reasons that He evaluates us using our Heart. Take note that this is not an exhaustive list:

  1. Your Heart has a voice:

Luke 6:45

A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil. For out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.

  1. Your Heart reveals the issues you have in your life:

Proverbs 4:23

Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

  1. Your Heart can be hardened like stone and it can also be softened into flesh:

 Ezekiel 36:26

I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.

  1. Your Heart reveals what you desire:

 Matthew 6:21

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Deuteronomy 14:26

And you shall spend that money for whatever your heart desires: for oxen or sheep, for wine or similar drink, for whatever your heart desires; you shall eat there before the Lord your God, and you shall rejoice, you and your household.

  1. You think through your Heart:

Proverbs 23:7

For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.

  1. Your Heart can be stirred to move by God’s will:

Exodus 35:21-22

21 Then everyone came whose heart was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willingand they brought the Lord’s offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments.22 They came, both men and women, as many as had a willing heartand brought earrings and nose rings, rings and necklaces, all jewelry of gold, that is, every man who made an offering of gold to the Lord.

  1. Your Heart can be stirred by Wisdom to give:

8e41428c9d50a1cebce4ba466c3eff92Exodus 36:1-3

36 “And Bezalel and Aholiab, and every gifted artisan in whom the Lord has put wisdom and understanding, to know how to do all manner of work for the service of the sanctuary, shall do according to all that the Lord has commanded.”

The People Give More than Enough

Then Moses called Bezalel and Aholiab, and every gifted artisan in whose heart the Lord had put wisdom, everyone whose heart was stirred, to come and do the work. And they received from Moses all the offering which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of making the sanctuary. So they continued bringing to him freewill offerings every morning.

  1. Your Heart harbours all your emotions:

Such as Discouragement, Fear, Love, Hate, Courage etc etc

  1. Your Heart either holds on to the Truth or holds onto a pack of Lies:

1 Kings 3:6

heartAnd Solomon said: “You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; You have continued this great kindness for him, and You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day.

Psalm 15:2

He who walks uprightly, And works righteousness, And speaks the truth in his heart;

James 3:14

But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth.

  1. Your Heart will always be tested by the Lord:

 Deuteronomy 8:2

And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

  1. Your Heart can be deceived or you can be deceitful in your own Heart:

 Deuteronomy 11:16

“Take heed to yourselves, lest your heart be deceived, and you turn aside and serve other gods and worship them,

Proverbs 17:20

He who has a deceitful heart finds no good, And he who has a perverse tongue falls into evil.

Jeremiah 17:9

“The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked; Who can know it?

  1. Your Heart reveals your loyalties:

1 Kings 8:61

Let your heart therefore be loyal to the Lord our God, to walk in His statutes and keep His commandments, as at this day.”

god-is-looking-at-your-heart

In Conclusion:

The Lord searches all Hearts:

 1 Chronicles 28:9

“As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the Lord searches all hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.

Jesus knocks at the door of our Hearts and therefore knows our intentions. We cannot fool God when the Word is what He uses to measure where we stand.

 Hebrews 4:12

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Here is a Song from Hillsongs United called Here Now to minister to your Spirit as you reflect on renewing a right spirit in your heart to make your Heart become like flesh to hear and feel the heart of the Father who is God.

It’s PA time with GOD, how did you measure up?

Hello People!

You must be wondering “what’s up with the title today Sherline?” What does PA mean or stand for? For those of you who “work”, you know that this is the time of the year for Year-End reviews for Performance Appraisals. That’s what PA stands for, Performance Appraisal.

madeformovedark_grandeSo I got around to thinking, we work hard to prove why some of us are eligible for a promotion, a step up the ladder if you will, or a bonus and we create a list of things we’ve done throughout the year to prove that we have done all we can to move to the next level to upgrade our situation. At the same time though, there will be people in this mix that have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, and I mean NOTHING to warrant a promotion, and yet with a self-entitled attitude, they’ll expect to move ahead with the “nothing” that they’ve had to offer. In some workplaces, you will see people unfairly passed on for promotions even though they’ve done the work to be rewarded for it and still have a bunch of lazy ones moving ahead simply because of “who they know” (Nepotism) and yet, when they land in such positions, their attitudes haven’t changed and they still continue with the bad behaviour they had in the previous role and are a train-wreck in the workplace. If you can relate to this, put one hand up somebody. 😦

So let’s take a look at this with our own walk with God. I personally look at myself right now and cannot lie and say that I don’t need improvement. Yes, I’m in ministry, I have done outreach, organized events etc etc, but apart from these “activities”, I think God looks at us with a different set of evaluations and criteria.

GOD is ALWAYS looking at the HEART.

1 Samuel 16:7 (NKJV)

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the Lord does not see as man sees;[a] for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

When you look at Saul the “people pleaser” and David the “God chaser”, you can assess why God made and promoted David a simple shepherd boy to become King over Israel. In the workplace you may find those around you that kiss other people’s derrière (butt) just to move ahead and think that’s ok, but really, under God’s standards, that “people pleasing” behaviour is one that I do not believe God appreciates nor condones. When you simply do the right thing, that should be enough to reward you and elevate you, but that comes with the attitude of gratitude, patience and humility. Please refer back to my Humility will Promote You in your Destiny post.

Matthew 23:12

And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.

For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

[ The Humbled and Exalted Christ ] Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,

I cannot stress how HUMILITY is key for the sake of promotion. I know a lot of unfair things can happen in the workplace or even in ministry, or in life for that matter, but at the same time, you must maintain your INTEGRITY. My grandparents and parents always say this to me and my sisters and I will repeat this to my own kids (some day when I have them) and you my readers that “Do things as if you are doing them unto the Lord”. Don’t try to exalt yourself before men by being a “people pleaser”. You will operate as a person with NO STANDARDS. You will be wishy-washy wavering between TWO OPINIONS (1 Kings 18:21). And you know what the double-minded man is like in the Bible? It says that a double-minded man is unstable in all his ways. Do you want to be like that? I don’t think so.  When you act in humility, you will always operate with the mind of Christ. You must always remember that.

he is a doubleminded man, unstable in all his ways.

If you had to rate yourself between 1-10, where would you really sit? As much as some of us prepare for our elevation speeches during our PA discussions with our bosses, you must prepare yourself before God. I will speak for myself and say that even though I’ve grown spiritually with some of my giftings, God is always looking at my heart. Do I love His people enough? I feel that I need improvement in this area. It doesn’t matter how many people I’ve ministered too, the question is always on the basis of God’s perspective, not my own perspective of the matter. I always have to rate myself in the Love-meter of God’s evaluation. If in God’s eyes, I can do better, then I myself, must do better and not be satisfied with my current status-quo.

I CAUTION YOU: Do not be deceived by people’s flattery of your achievements, if God sees that you’re not on the right path, then no amount of compliments from people can change God’s evaluation of YOU at that point. So always, measure yourself through God’s lenses, and not simply rely on other people’s opinion of how good you are right about now. Otherwise, you’ll end up like Saul puffed up with PRIDE and ready for God’s DEMOTION. I don’t think you want that now do you? Remain humble at all times.

How many people know that in the workplace, it doesn’t matter how skilled you are sometimes even though having skills is important, employers prize those with “soft-skills” which are referred to as “people skills” and “relationship-building” skills. If in the world those skills are important and are enough to promote people at times, then the same applies with God. How do you treat His people? Are you a relationship builder or a self-interested individual looking to climb over others just to move ahead in life? Be very honest with yourself and do some serious self-inventory of your life.

but-god-looks-at-the-heartThe mistakes some people make when they go for PA evaluations with their bosses is that they do not assess themselves at all. Some people even think that they have nothing to improve upon because they’re comfortable with the bare minimum and wonder why they are passed on for promotions. God is the same. He is always evaluating our performance everyday of our lives. He assess us through our hearts. If you have bitterness issues, then make it a point to work on that this year, if you’ve got self-esteem issues, then work on that this year, if you lack knowledge in a certain area, then upgrade yourself and go to school, read up on stuff, find out what you need to know and seek out resources that have the answers you need in order to become fully effective. If you are jealous of your brother or sister who is moving up, then you’ve got to get that checked out pronto. God will not deal with a jealous-spirited person kindly. I’m just being real with you on that one.

NO ONE, and I mean absolutely NO ONE can do all these necessary self-assessments for you, except YOU. So if you’re upset as to why certain things haven’t happened in your life, then you’ve got to realize that you need to do something different, otherwise you’ll be stuck in a cycle of insanity. Understand, that when you start your own self-evaluations, talk to the Holy Spirit. He has a way of being brutally honest with you and will convict you of areas that require improvement. I tend to fast and pray when I need to hear from the Holy Spirit and I totally recommend it if you need to hear clearly as to what it is that you need to do differently in order to see positive results occur in your life.

Understand, that with your limited level of understanding, you simply don’t have all the answers to move forward, so go to God who has all the answers, Amen! Don’t worry about where you are right now, just understand that when you start chasing God, like David did, He will accelerate somethings in your life that should’ve taken years to happen, but you have to remain humble until that time. Also, be aware that with promotion comes responsibility. Are you up for the task??? Seriously assess and ask yourself these questions before hounding God about wanting a promotion. God’s method can be so out of this world and mind-blowing that if He can turn a simple shepherd-boy (David) into a King overnight, then what say you about YOU? It’s okay to seek wise counsel as well, but at the end of the day, you need to be very God-reliant and humble enough to seek God’s advice for yourself so that He can direct your path, Amen! 😀

So my main message is, be a “GOD CHASER” for your PA review with GOD. Don’t be a “people pleaser” before God, because I guarantee that if that’s they way you’ve been doing life right about now, you will be demoted just like King Saul was…and his ending was quite tragic…I just want you to be aware of the ramifications of that behaviour. Be a GOD CHASER people. That’s my goal in life and I pray that that’s yours too. 🙂

I have a song from Elevation Worship that’s been in my spirit called Here as in Heaven.  I pray that this song ministers to your spirit today. God Bless you everybody! 😀
