Nobody Like Jesus!

Hello All!

Today, I just watched the new Spider-man movie and let me tell you it was awesome! 😀 I love Tony Stark/Iron Man and how he tries to communicate and mentor with the immature young Spider-man who just always wants to jump into trouble and rescue people all the time. I’m not going to add any spoilers here but all I can say is that if you haven’t watched the movie then go out there and do it 😀 ! You won’t be disappointed! 😀

Image result for SpidermanIn watching this movie, it got me thinking that sometimes we as Christians can behave a lot like the immature Spider-man in that we may be well meaning and always want to help people all the time when they are facing a crisis (even the kinds that are their own making) and get into situations that doesn’t really require any of our help because sometimes, people face a crisis so that they can learn from it and grow from it. Just because we want to be “helpful” all the time when someone is in a crisis doesn’t mean that we always have to jump into things that we weren’t  led to jump into in the first place because we can ultimately land ourselves in trouble ourselves which is of no benefit to anyone in the grand scheme of things. Sometimes, we have to let people work out their own problems rather than be quick to be a lending hand because there are times when people face a crisis because it was something of their own making and they need to learn from their mistakes the hard way.

Image result for stubbornLearning from your mistakes causes one to mature and grow from the pain of it all. There will be instances were you can intercede and step in to help someone, but there are also seasons for stubborn people to learn the hard way even after having been given all the warning bells to keep them from landing into trouble. Stubbornness is a vice that hinders one from growing in maturity. We don’t always “Know it all” all the time and that is why we must practice humility as a way of life. Humble people make mistakes, but are better able to grow from learning from those mistakes that were made.

“Talk to the hand” chick

Stubborn people are deaf to instruction and tend to have a “do it my way or the highway” philosophy of life. Such people are stunted from growing in maturity and remain idiosyncratic in all their ways. If we want to do well in this life, we need to learn from our mistakes and remain humble when given guidance on how to succeed. In the Spider-man movie, Peter Parker learned the meaning of humility and was able to grow after hitting a wall of discouragement that made him doubt himself and the path that he had to take in order to move into the next level by listening to his mentor Tony Stark.

Image result for light shines in the darknessNow, I’m not really giving you a spoiler here, but you can watch the movie for yourself and see that we as people can act just as naive as the young Spider-man, but once we learn from our mistakes, we can soar to higher heights with the mind of Christ as we learn that our true strength lies in whom we believe (Jesus Christ is Lord) which will enable us to understand why we do the things that we do in this life. We are all here by design. You are no accident. God created you to be a solution to this broken world.

The Way, the Truth, and the Life ] “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me.
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Just like how spider-man needed to grow to find out what his true purpose was, we as Christians need to grow and find out what our true purpose is here on earth. We are all called to be lights unto this dark world so let your light shine so bright that all men, women and children can see that Jesus Christ is indeed the Way the Truth and the Life, Amen!

Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.
As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”

I pray that this song called Nobody Like Jesus sung by Neville D. feat. Cjay blesses your spirit today, God Bless you everybody! 😀

The Issue of Backsliding: The Real War Inside

Hello All!

Today, I watched a Youtube video where the Youtuber called “The Vigiliant Christian” claims that Lecrae has backslid-den all because he never claimed openly to be a “Christian Rapper” verbally speaking, simply because he referred himself to be a “rap artist” at the BET Awards show. You can check out the video by clicking here .

Honestly, as I watched the video I thought to myself, that it’s very easy to point fingers at people (particularly those that have influence with the masses) for straying from the path simply because they are popular and have Charisma. Just because a person is popular, doesn’t mean that they are immune from being enticed to stray from the path of being a true Christ-follower. The thing is, it’s easy to be sitting on the bench pointing the finger at those that have influence and holding them to a higher standard than others simply because they have charisma to influence the masses but the thing is, they are just people too. It’s not something new to see an influential Christian fall or backslide at the peak of their Charisma.

Image result for backsliderAs Christians, are we simply forgetful of the fact that just because someone rises filled with the fire of faith in the beginning of their walk, doesn’t mean that the devil has forgotten such a person and waits at the opportune time to strike such a believer when they least expect it.

Just imagine: a peaceful city as symbolic of the state and nature of a “True Christian” individual. Then imagine that this city is being bombarded with missiles of various temptations, lusts, and vain imaginations that start to ravage that beautiful and peaceful city with bombs and fires that destroy the foundations of faith that built such a beautiful city in the first place. Now the state of the city is compromised and is in a worse off state because there was no arsenal present to withstand the attacks from outside forces (Temptations). If the city had had a protective air strike-force (Faith & Self-control) to counter-attack the invading missiles and bombs from enemy lines that were destroying the city, there would have been less damage and fewer casualties. The City would have been able to repair any breach.

Those from among you Shall build the old waste places; You shall raise up the foundations of many generations; And you shall be called the Repairer of the Breach, The Restorer of Streets to Dwell In.

We must be mindful of the fact that no matter how Charismatic and/or influential a Christian can be, they are not immune from sin. They are not immune to deception, they are not immune from falling back into their weaknesses, they are not immune from succumbing to Worldly pressures that seek to compromise their belief system. Nobody is immune to such attacks that are geared to cause one to fall away from their first love, Jesus Christ. I mean, look at Peter who was a follower of Jesus; He denied knowing who Christ was three times even though he was one of the closest disciples of Jesus. This just goes to show you that it is irrelevant how close you are in your relationship with God because you are still not immune from denying your relationship with Him in the first place given the right circumstances. We cannot be presumptuous and assume that we will always walk in a straight line simply because we are “believers”.

In the first Chapter in the Book of Jude talks about contending for the faith and recognizing when a person has strayed from the path through the following signs found in:
Jude 1:16 – These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage.

Here is the whole 1st chapter of the Book of Jude:

Jude (NKJV)

Greeting to the Called

Jude, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James,

To those who are called, sanctified[a] by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ:

Mercy, peace, and love be multiplied to you.

Contend for the Faith

Beloved, while I was very diligent to write to you concerning our common salvation, I found it necessary to write to you exhorting you to contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain men have crept in unnoticed, who long ago were marked out for this condemnation, ungodly men, who turn the grace of our God into lewdness and deny the only Lord God[b] and our Lord Jesus Christ.

Old and New Apostates

But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe. And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day; as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Likewise also these dreamers defile the flesh, reject authority, and speak evil of dignitaries. Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!” 10 But these speak evil of whatever they do not know; and whatever they know naturally, like brute beasts, in these things they corrupt themselves. 11 Woe to them! For they have gone in the way of Cain, have run greedily in the error of Balaam for profit, and perished in the rebellion of Korah.

Apostates Depraved and Doomed

12 These are spots in your love feasts, while they feast with you without fear, serving only themselves. They are clouds without water, carried about[c] by the winds; late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots; 13 raging waves of the sea, foaming up their own shame; wandering stars for whom is reserved the blackness of darkness forever.

14 Now Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about these men also, saying, “Behold, the Lord comes with ten thousands of His saints, 15 to execute judgment on all, to convict all who are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have committed in an ungodly way, and of all the harsh things which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.”

Apostates Predicted

16 These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage. 17 But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: 18 how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. 19 These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit.

Maintain Your Life with God

20 But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, 21 keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

22 And on some have compassion, making a distinction;[d] 23 but others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire,[e] hating even the garment defiled by the flesh.

Glory to God

24 Now to Him who is able to keep you[f] from stumbling,

And to present you faultless
Before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy,
25 To God our Savior,[g]
Who alone is wise,[h]
Be glory and majesty,
Dominion and power,[i]
Both now and forever.

Image result for backsliderThe Devil is a wicked and crafty foe, that you simply cannot underestimate what he can do to cause you or anyone for that matter to fall away from God. We should operate with a level of grace and not be too judgmental when we see influential Christians fall from grace. In fact, I think our reactions to such things we witness should rather be an opportunity to exercise this wonderful thing called GRACE! We should no longer be surprised when we see people fall from grace. In fact, I think this is a time where we as Christians should practice and operate with the spirit of compassion rather than point fingers and condemn our brothers and sisters that fall because of some weakness. Even in the height of worldly elevation, we cannot presume nor assume that simply just because you are a “Christian” doesn’t mean that you cannot and will never at all fall from grace. Peter’s 3-time-denial of Jesus proved that it is possible to fall and deny Jesus at anytime no matter how close of a relationship you think you have with Him right now. Therefore, I think the best response to witnessing to someone straying from the path no matter how influential they may appear to be in your eyes, isn’t to simply call them out on their sin; but as Christians we need to exercise the spirit of compassion and pray for the individual and offer to counsel them back on the right road with a spirit of love and not condemnation. Sometimes we can get too wrapped up in a Christian’s status quo regarding their level of influence that we tend to forget that they too are sinners who have fallen short of the glory of God. They are not super humans just because some people are popular and charismatic. They are simply just human and we should not forget that.

Who ever said being a Christian was easy is a liar. In NO way is being a Christian easy whatsoever!

Down below, I have placed some scriptures for you to meditate on for today as my focus is on building on the spirit of Compassion that is able to edify the Body of Christ. I pray that as Christians, we exercise Grace, Humility and Love towards anyone struggling to stay on the right path with God no matter who they are. It doesn’t matter if the person is well known, influential or someone we hold in high regard; we can’t be a people that points at other people’s specks in their eyes when the possibility remains that we may have a huge plank in our own eyes. We must be careful to judge others unjustly and operate in the realm of compassion at all times, in Jesus’ Name, Amen! 😀

Matthew 7 [Full Chapter]

[ Do Not Judge ] “Judge not, that you be not judged. For with what judgment you judge, you will be judged; and with the measure you use, it will be measured back to you. And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?
Let us operate with a spirit of compassion and pray for one another so that we do not yield to the temptations that exists all around us to stray from the path of righteousness and depart from the faith altogether. We need to remain humble, meditate on God’s Word and seek to always remain on the right path no matter what temptations we may face to stray. I pray that this post blesses your spirit today. If anyone is struggling with their walk with God, you can hit me up on the comments section of this post if you want prayer over your situations. Do not be discouraged and seek out all the help that you can get to get back on the right path with God again.

God Bless You Everybody! 😀

Scriptures to Meditate

Ephesians 2:8-9 [Full Chapter]

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Surely He scorns the scornful, But gives grace to the humble.

And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God,

Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines. For it is good that the heart be established by grace, not with foods which have not profited those who have been occupied with them.

[ Submit to God, Resist the Devil ] Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

Part 2

I Will Love You Forever!

Hello Everybody!

I Just had to post this song by Briana Babineaux called Love You Forever. This song is just off the hook! Do you know that the Lord Jesus will love you forever!. In the Bible, it is said that the Lord has loved us with an everlasting love. I don’t know what it is that you are facing today, but just know that even when people disappoint you, reject you, hurt you, God will always be there to console you and love you no matter what. Even when you have strayed from the path, God is always waiting for you to return to Him with open arms. He will accept you with all your faults and failures because His love is unconditional. Now that’s true Love! I pray that this song will bless your spirit today. God Bless You Everybody! 😀

The Lord has appeared of old to me, saying: “Yes, I have loved you with an everlasting love; Therefore with lovingkindness I have drawn you.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

[ God’s Everlasting Love ] What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

You are all I Need God!

Blow Your High!

Hey Y’all!

I had to post one more song for today by Lecrae feat. Canon called Blow Your High!  This song is dedicated to those addicted to drugs (specifically), but I also think that those who use and abuse alcohol as well should be included in this group because any abuse of drugs and alcohol leads to death.

Image result for depressionI believe that people use these things to numb the pain, to dull the senses and escape reality. Why do I say this? Well…I remember when there was a phase where I used to club with my friends a number of years ago (*shock* Sherline you went to the CLUB???!!!! — Yes I did), I’d say about 10 years ago….because I really enjoyed dancing; however, alcohol was in the building and that obviously was not a good thing, though, I never drank to get drunk since I was the designated driver, I knew that I was not in the right place at the right time. I love dancing to music so clubbing with my friends was a stress reliever, but then I remember this one time which was the last time I went to the club, I had heard shots fired outside the club that I knew God was telling me to get the hell out of there. I think that I was going through a stage of depression, but I myself don’t know why I was feeling that way. I guess I was feeling numb because I felt a lot of pressure to “fit in” maybe, and so many things were going on in my life at that time that I don’t think I slept well. I experienced nightmares that caused me to feel out of it at times.

Image result for depressionA do remember that a guy had tried to attack me sexually while I was in the library at my university but I fought him off of me and I think that’s why I wasn’t sleeping all that well because the incident would repeat itself over and over again that I began to feel terrified of going to university. Eventually, I got over it, but I never told anybody about the incident. I guess I was experiencing PTSD. Despite all of that, I managed to escape the attempted rape incident but I struggled to trust people specifically males in particular. I began to feel fear because of how violated I felt with respect to that incident. Well, that’s just one out of many incidences but I praise God for protecting me from malicious people that I’ve encountered in my life. Sometimes you go through a traumatic event and it can skew the way you view people if you remain traumatized be such events forever. Not every person is out to “get you”, but at the same time, you can never be so sure. I think also the fact that I lived with my grandparents who were diplomats, I have encountered and been exposed to having seen evil people first hand at the government level that I often wonder if I have jaded lens when I see people, but I also think that the Lord has helped me see things and people for what they truly are like and to be mindful that sometimes we as people live in a bubble thinking that “all is well in the world” when evil is right in your front yard but you’re just not looking at it for what it is. We need to be more discerning of the times we are in. Not everything is rosy and just peachy. We need to understand that the world as we know it is getting darker and darker each day with the things we allow to happen with our eyes wide shut. Ignorance is not bliss, but I pray that as Christians, we will have stronger voices to the injustices we see and that as a community we become heard and become destiny and generation builders that will protect those that need to be protected.

[ God the Refuge of His People and Conqueror of the Nations ] [ To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. A Song for Alamoth. ] God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble.
