You’re Bigger than I Thought

Hi Peeps!

I have a song here sung by Passion feat. Sean Curran called Bigger Than I Thought. I feel like this is a great song that is appropriate for me to post today. Lately, I’ve been learning a lot about people for the past few weeks. I’ve also been learning what it means to have spiritual discernment, and knowing when you have your limits. I’ve learned that the Lord is showing me that when I pray, I must be strategic in what I ask for.

If the discernment level of yesterday is not sufficient for tomorrows problems, that is when you need to pray to God more to increase in the areas that you find yourself deficient. I’ve noticed that I cannot settle with my current condition, and must always have the heart of a student and keep learning more from others; but mostly, I must keep learning more about myself. I’ve learned that the best way to discern someone else, is by first learning to first discern yourself. If you cannot see the areas in your own life that require improvement, how can you show someone else how to do the same if you lack the clarity to see the areas within yourself that need Jesus?

I have learned that you can learn from people that are different from yourself. They don’t have to be a Christian to add value to your life. God has intrinsically put greatness in every person regardless of whether they believe in Him (God) or not, so as Christians, we cannot afford to be presumptuous, haughty and filled with pride to not be able to see that you can learn from people that are different from yourself.

Psalm 139:14 [Full Chapter]
I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well.

Such people may have a different values from yourself, but just remember that God created them too. Also, our job as Christians isn’t to condemn the world, but it is to be the example of God’s love to a world that needs to see and know that God loves them as they are and wants to draw them to become who they were meant to be, “A Child of God”. Nobody is perfect, and before we point at the speck in our brother and sister’s eye…make sure you don’t have a plank in your own.

Matthew 7:3 – And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the plank in your own eye?

Matthew 7:4 – Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me remove the speck from your eye’; and look, a plank is in your own eye?

Luke 6:41 – And why do you look at the speck in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the plank in your own eye?

Luke 6:42 – Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Brother, let me remove the speck that is in your eye,’ when you yourself do not see the plank that is in your own eye? Hypocrite! First remove the plank from your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck that is in your brother’s eye.

It’s so important to operate with the Spirit of God’s love in whatever we do. I know that I’m not perfect at it, but that is what I strive for. And if you truly want someone to hear you and listen to you….you too have to learn to listen and hear from them too rather than simply voicing your position and your opinion. Sometimes people don’t care how much you know…they just want to know that you care. Jesus always learned to listen and hear others in the Bible before answering. Many came to accuse and test him based on his knowledge of the Torah, but Jesus always had the final word.

Sometimes, it’s not always about being right all the time, it’s about having the empathy and patience to listen rather than seeking to be heard. So in all that you do in life, always seek to do better if you know better. Try to build a patient and peaceful way to address issues rather than simply trying to voice and force your opinion onto others. I feel that for the past few weeks, I’ve learned that the discernment of yesterday is simply not enough for tomorrows problems, so strategically pray to God to help you increase in any area of your life that you find yourself deficient. He is the One that is able to supply all your needs according to his riches and Glory in Heaven.

Philippians 4:19And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

We just need to remember to ask for it. We have not if we ask not.

James 4:2 You lust and do not haveYou murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.

People can go about getting the things they want the wrong way simply because they did not ask God to help them get the things they desire in legitimate ways. Why do you think people do corrupt things to get what they want? It’s because they simply don’t Trust God nor do they Believe in Him.

The Bible tells us this:

John 16:24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.

So my prayer for everyone reading this is that you must remember to include God in every plan of your life. When you are struggling, seek God through prayer to point you to the people that will guide you in the right direction. Sometimes the people God chooses to impact your life will be those that don’t believe in Him. And God is purposeful when He aligns you to people that are unbelievers… It is so that you can be the light that they have failed to see in their own world. In order to impact someones life you have to be engaged and interested in their life. Change can’t happen until you do something different. Don’t get comfortable… because comfort breeds laziness…and with laziness, breeds contempt.

Don’t be the kind of Christian that is lazy in their walk… be active and purposeful in the things that you do. People want God to use them in amazing ways…but when the time calls for it, are you up to the task? Be real with yourself. Sometimes, the things God asks us to do will force us out of our comfort zone…so we must be ready for that as well. God wants to touch lives by pushing us out there to impact those that wouldn’t have heard the message nor experienced an example of God love. Remember, people don’t care about how much you know… they care about how much you care. Demonstrate that each day, and I believe something will move in a struggling heart that wants to believe but has reasons to deny in God’s existence in their lives.

I pray that as you listen to this song, may it bless your heart and bless your spirit today. God bless you everybody! 🙂
