Today, I want to post a song by Jaye Thomas & The Cry called Higher. Sometimes, we face things that appear to be great obstacles to our progress. They come in the form of setbacks, disappointments, sickness, financial woes, and the list goes on. However, despite the setbacks, God is the one who provides the great comeback! Some people can laugh and mock you for where you are right now, but they simply don’t know where it is that you are going. With God on your side, the road that He takes you on is one less traveled but it is a journey that is able to satisfy your heart’s desires. So do not be discouraged with where you are right now, because your eyes should focus on where it is that God wants to take you. You will face challenges, temptations to stray from the path and may even feel like giving up and turning back, but God is saying to you today, “Keep GOING!”.
There will be people who will walk with you some of the way, part of the way and then there will be a people that will walk with you all the way to the end. Each person you encounter in your journey is relevant no matter how long they journey with you so respect each encounter as they come. You will probably meet people from your past in your future and you may even think “it’s a coincidence”, but with God, there is no such thing as a coincidence. Everything is part of His divine plan for your life. Some people, you will only meet once and never again and that’s ok, because some people are designed to only be there for you for that specific moment in your life and once they have completed their task, that part of their journey with you is over. You must continue to look forward, and keep on pressing forward towards the goal in your life and not look back at things that weren’t meant to be. Clinging onto the past can serve as a stumbling block towards your progress towards your future. Learn to let go of things that won’t hold onto you and to grab a hold of things that are extending their hands to you in order to push you forward to your prosperous future. Clinging onto dead weight only serves to keep you stranded in the same position leaving you neither here nor there because you aren’t going anywhere. Learn to move with the times and recognize your destiny helpers that are there to push you forward to where you need to go and to where you need to be right now.
Folly is joy to him who is destitute of discernment, But a man of understanding walks uprightly.
Sometimes people hold on to expired relationships for a long time thinking that it’s a good thing but God knows when a person’s journey with you has ended in the road of your life. If you keep holding onto people that are supposed to leave at the right time, you will find them to be a stumbling block to your future progress and then you will find yourself wondering why things aren’t moving in your life. It’s because you didn’t let go of what was meant to depart earlier in your life.
8 For God is my witness, how greatly I long for you all with the affection of Jesus Christ.
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ,
There will also be people you will reunite with in your life that are meant to re-enter your life for a specific purpose. You have to discern or should I say you have to learn to discern who is meant to re-appear in your life and who is meant to disappear from your life according to the timing that is in your life. I classify people as either destiny builders or destiny helpers, and/or stumbling blocks or destiny destroyers. You have to discern who is there to build you or destroy you. Some may start out as builders, but they can easily become stumbling blocks if you do not discern when the timing of that relationship has ended/expired. Not all relationships have an expiry date, but some people are sometimes only there to be with you for a specific amount of time and if you continue to cling onto people when they are meant to move on, it’s either you or they become a stumbling block to your progress in either their life or your life. That is why it is important to build discernment of not only people’s characters, but also discern seasons and when times have changed. Do not be moved by emotionalism; move by the Spirit of God and accept what God shows you concerning people in your life. This is not limited to just people in your workplace, but also friendships, courtships and familial relationships. At the end of the day, your destiny is wrapped up in what God has planned for you to do and fulfill in this lifetime.
Having been sick with encephalitis (short-term memory loss), I’ve realized that it is very important to be anchored to the knowledge of Christ in all that you do. Despite my battle with this sickness, I’m glad that I never forgot who I am and the fact that I am saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. People’s attitude may change towards you regarding who you are and what you stand for, but that is when you discover the true hearts of men and women that are around you.
Who is genuine? Who is fake? Are you even able to tell the difference?
When I look back in my life, I recognize that I have always been adept at recognizing genuine and fake people that come before my face. This is called discernment. It is needed in order to make wise decisions. It doesn’t mean that you can never be tricked, but it is an important thing to build in order to make wise decisions about what and who you allow and/or do not allow in your life. Certain people can either build you or derail you from where you ought to go so it is important to know the difference by standing anchored on The WORD (The Bible) as your moral standard of conduct. Do not be wishy washy in your decision making. Have standards of conduct and don’t be so easily swayed by others that want you to stray from the path of making the right choices to live by.
The journey of simply doing the “right thing” can sometimes cause you to be a pariah of sorts in that you will feel isolated and often times lonely because people don’t understand what you are about. Why is it that you don’t follow the crowd? Why do you dare to be different? Doing the right thing isn’t always popular, but that is what it means to stand against the grain and outshine the idle-minded that don’t seem to question what is up with the current status quo that they are in fact following. Following a “Fad” doesn’t mean you are doing the right thing. You determine the road that you will follow, so it is my prayer that you make the right choices and follow that sweet narrow road that is a road less traveled with major benefits that far outweigh the temporary pleasures of the popular road that leads you to nowhere. It isn’t easy to choose that narrow road, but it is the best choice you could ever make in your life. That I guarantee. Enjoy this song by Jaye Thomas & The Cry and God Bless You everybody! 😀
